Fred the Undercover Cat Detective

After only three exciting months of being a private investigator in New York City, Fred is ready to hang up his detective hat and badge. According to his bodyguard, Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Carol Moran, the cat has done his duty for the city and is ready to retire.

In February we wrote that he declined a salary and instead offered to work in exchange for toys, cat treats, catnip, specialty furniture, floor-to-ceiling scratching posts, 10 karat gold cat food dishes, and a variety of comfortable beds. While he didn’t get the gold dishes or any such extravagant posessions, he says that he did learn a lot during his short career and his needs were more than well-met.

Fred became famous when he posed as a patient during an investigation of a college student posing as a veterinarian. The student was falsely representing himself as a vet in order to make quick cash performing botched surgeries that, in at least one case, resulted in the death of a dog. Fred’s role came into play when he posed as a patient to reel in the phony vet. After this, he worked both privately and for the city to solve crimes relating to the city’s smaller citizens.

Next on his journey, Fred plans to become a spokesman for animal safety. He is currently filling out applications and attending classes to become certified as a pet therapist. Once he has done so, he plans to travel to schools to teach children about the importance of animal care. In between speeches we assume he will provide therapy to pets who have been victims of crime.
