DALLAS, TEXAS - Two human male “cat burglars” were involved in an armed kidnapping at the Casa Linda Petco pet store at 1100 N. Buckner in Dallas, officials say.

The Protective Animal League had taken Simon, a male marble orange tabby cat who is also known as “Daddy-O”, to the Dallas area pet store in order to arrange for him to meet new humans for a pet adoption. What they didn’t expect were the two human males who showed up, brandished a gun, and abducted Simon at gunpoint. Authorities are calling this a cat robbery. It is unknown whether Simon had anything to do with his captors or if he arranged in advance to be “busted out” of the kennel he was living in, however sources believe that this is highly unlikely. Armed robbery of felines is not common, so this story has struck thousands as a rather odd situation.

“We think those peeps came to get Daddy-O outta the locker, ya know what I mean?” Said one of the stray cats in the area where Simon was last seen. A number of felines who were familiar with Simon have expressed a notion that Simon was not kidnapped, but in fact rescued. Daddy-O, as Simon was known in his other identity, is rumored to be one of the top cats in an alley cat gang called Street Ninjas. In other times, the slightly overweight tabby wore a black collar and a mask over his face. Those who are on the lookout may want to take note that this tabby may revert to his old style of dress now that he is no longer with the Protective Animal League.

“There’s no shortage of cats,” said Dianne Wood, a volunteer with the Protective Animal league. “I don’t understand it. There are cats in all the shelters. If they wanted an orange tabby, they could pick a cat off the streets.” No money or other items were taken from the facility - only the cat.

Anyone with information about these catnabbers is encouraged to call the Dallas Police at 214-671-3584.
