Dear Catnabbit!

Where do kittens come from?

Sincerely,

Dear Skippy,

What a very good, yet broad question!

Kittens technically come from the backside of un-spayed female cats who had a wild and painfully (yes, painfully) romantic night about 2 months prior. The male contributor may or may not still be around, but he sure as heck isn’t paying child support.

A question sometimes arises from another question. Which came first, the kitten or the cat? Well, since the predecessor to the cat was a non-cat, which evolved into the cat, the first cat must have come from a kitten. That means that the kitten was born of two non-cats when they mated. Therefore the kitten was first, giving way to the cat which gave birth to the first kitten that came from a cat. Now, all kittens come from cats. The likelihood of kittens coming from non-cats was so improbable in the first place that it is practically a miracle cats exist in the first place. Therefore it is unlikely that any kittens will come from non-cats in the future, unless there is divine (or human) intervention.

Of course that leads to, where did cats evolve from? Well, the feline pedigree has been traced back to Asia, but before that, it is thought by many cats that we actually were left here by some cats from another planet called Hsif who were exploring space. This was documented in the educational book, Cats With Attitude by Nicole Holander.

Of course, if you know a female cat who has kittens and she says they are yours, and you’re wondering where those kittens came from, we recommend DNA paternity testing.
